10 Guilty Pleasures

IMG_1733We all have Guilty Pleasures… Don’t we? Those little things that we know are not “right”, but that feel so good that you don’t really care and you do them anyway… Last weekend, the bf was out of town and I had a the luxury to enjoy some of mines. It made me want to write a list… simply to never forget that it’s okay to surrender to them once in a while.

#10. Eat peanut butter by the spoon full. Oh I know, when “they” say peanut butter is good for you, they mean a tablespoon per day or something of that nature. But I don’t care, in those moments, all I know is peanut butter is good. Period. And I’m double-dipping… Who cares after all, I’m the only one in this household who eats it anyway!

#9. Foamy lattes and other sweet fancy coffees. To all the coffee purists who cringe because “it’s not coffee”, I say: “I don’t care, I like it!” I like walking down the street with a warm drink in my hand, I like flavored coffees and I have a Starbucks reward app on my phone. Get over it.

#8. Fresh cut flowers on my coffee table. They are going to die. It is very sad. But there is no better feeling than buying a bunch of seasonal fresh cut flowers at the market, it’s like bringing a little bit of outdoor, indoor. Unfortunately I do not have a green thumb so, I tried potted plants but I’m killing them way too fast. At least cut flowers were meant to die anyway, right?

#7. Tear jerker TV series. Bring it on Grey’s Anatomy, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey! Keep on killing your cast members… The more I cry, the better chances you have to keep me watching.

#6. Argentinian Tango. In my entrepreneur life, I don’t have much room for releasing control. But when I dance, especially Argentinian Tango, there is no room for me to try to keep that control. I can only fully enjoy the moment if I let go and trust my partner to take us on to this musical journey. And it feels really good, for once, to let go.

#5. Adam Levine. He’s probably a jack-ass, but who cares, I don’t plan on meeting him, let alone marrying him. For all I care, he’s something I enjoy looking at and listening to.

#4. Watching Mamma Mia – The Movie. It feels to me that Meryl Streep had so much fun shooting that movie, that her pleasure is transcending the screen and bringing joy to the audience. The way those A-List actors are simply not taking themselves seriously and having fun with it, brings a smile on my face every single time. Who needs a happy pill when there’s Mamma Mia.

#3. Irish/Australian/Scottish/British men. Just to hear them talk. Their accent makes me go “awww…” and gives me fuzzy feelings inside. Can’t resist.

#2. Buying shoes. As Rose Feller would put it “Clothes never look any good… food just makes me fatter… shoes always fit.” (In Her Shoes – 2005)

#1. Waking-up, making coffee, watching a movie. Generally a great Sunday morning occupation but it’s even more of a fantastic guilty pleasure when it happens on a week day, when everyone else is working. Naughty…

Alright, now, what about you? Any guilty pleasures you want to confess?

I love Cafe Mokxa, I just wish they expanded, starting with opening a store in Croix-Rousse!

I completely agree with #3! In addition, I’ve fallen deeply in love with a specialty drink at my local coffee shop called “Snow White Chai” or “The Fairest Chai of Them All” (depending on who is working the counter) which is a white chocolate chai with apple flavoring. I’m sure it’s a million calories but it’s too delicious to pass up. 🙂

That sounds mouth watering, the only Chai tea we find here is Starbuck’s and I know for a fact it’s far from being the best…
